The music ministry of Westminster Presbyterian Church serves to support and enrich the congregation’s worship of God. Through the glorious gift of music, we may proclaim God’s word, sing God’s praise, or offer our prayers. Although opportunities for fellowship and nurture are also present in our music ministry, an opportunity to contribute to Christ-centered corporate worship is the main focus of the music program.
The Chancel Choir
is the principal ensemble in the music program. From September to June, its members rehearse each Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in preparation for leadership in worship on Sunday mornings. The choir’s sacred musical repertoire spans a wide range of styles, including both classical works and spirituals. The choir has also shared larger choral works in worship, including Vivaldi’s Gloria and requiem settings by Mozart, Faure, and John Rutter. Each year, the choir also leads the congregation in a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, which is based on the annual service held at Cambridge since 1918.
In addition to these opportunities, we welcome and encourage individuals to share their musical talents as a soloist or contributor to a small group. Whether you play an instrument or sing, your talents may become part of the music ministry of Westminster.
