Worship Service Cancellation Policy

The Session will make the decision to cancel Sunday worship service due to emergency related conditions in consultation with the Pastor. The decision to cancel the worship service will be made at least two hours prior to the worship service. All other church activities will automatically be cancelled for the day if the service is cancelled.

Situations and conditions that could effect a church cancellation include the following:

Snow, freezing rain, ice storm, tornado, power outage, or flooding.

Procedures to put into place if a cancellation of the worship service is necessary:

Parish Administrator will:

o      Change the message on the church answering machine to reflect the cancellation,

o      Broadcast the cancellation on radio station: WIBA, 1310

o      Broadcast the cancellation on NBC (5), ABC (7), and CBS (9)TV stations

o      Call web manager to post the cancellation on the Church web site,

o      Send a mass email to all congregational members with notice of cancellation, including a call to the coffee maker, Bill Butler.

Pastor will notify the cancellation to:

o      the deacons to call each parish member,

o      liturgist, acolytes and communion servers of the cancellation.

DCE will notify all those participating in morning education of the cancellation.

Director of Music will notify all musicians participating in morning service of the cancellation of the worship service.
