May 6

4 - 5:30 PM

Meet Earth-Wise author, Cal DeWitt, who will connect our Presbyterian roots to caring for God’s creation. Supper will be the creative, collaborative: Stone Soup. Please bring either a package of frozen veggies or some chunks of nice, fresh veggies that would go nicely in a soup. The youth will provide some special animal-like rolls that they will create just for this event. Don't miss the kick off to Cal DeWitt's talk. The Jug Band has been resurrected, and will be ready for a short gig at 4 PM. Don’t miss it!

"Re-discovering our Presbyterian Roots in Caring for God's Creation" by Cal DeWitt

There are remarkable contributions of our Reformed and Presbyterian heritage that Donald Worster, a prominent environmental historian, says “has provided an important spawning ground for environmental reform movements”, a pivotal example of which is John Muir, whose Presbyterian upbringing resounds and rings through his influential and inspiring writings. In his presentation, Cal DeWitt will bring Presbyterian roots of conservation to light, and then, through this, lead us to "Creation-Care" that should make every day an Earth Day.

April 29

·  Drop off your potluck contribution to the kitchen before worship. Please sign-up for either a salad or dessert to share. Sloppy Joes and beverages (donations humbly accepted) will be provided. This should make it easier for everyone to participate in some kind of Earth Day activity (at the Arboretum or other place) and still have something delicious to share for our suppertime celebration.

·  Enjoy a special Earth Day sermon from Pastor Alex

·  Sub Sandwiches will be sold by youth after worship - sign-up & order yours ahead

·  Participate in volunteer activities at the UW Arboretum through the afternoon. (If you want to volunteer at the UW-Madison Arboretum on Earth Day afternoon (12:30-3:30 PM), you need to sign-up on the poster by April 8. This allows the Arboretum Volunteer Coordinator to arrange support staff and stewards to work with us.)

·  Return to church for a 4:00 to 5:30 PM celebration potluck supper and intergenerational table games and a mini program to complement the delicious healthy foods from the earth
